According to the Bank of Greece, in Q3 2021, apartment prices (in nominal terms) were on average 7.9% higher compared to the same quarter of 2020. The price increase in Q3 2021 was 7.6% for new apartments (up to 5 years old) and 8.2% for older ones.
Analysis of the data by geographic region shows that the increase in apartment prices in Q3 2021, compared to the same quarter of 2020, was 9.8% in Athens, 8.7% in Thessaloniki, 5.9% in other major cities, and 5.7% in the rest of the country.
Sharp Rise in Rents in Athens and Thessaloniki
Residential rental prices continued to show upward trends in 2021 in Attica and Thessaloniki. Rents increased by an average of 5%, with Attica at +6.2% and Thessaloniki at +9.4%.
In the Northern and Southern Suburbs, average rental prices were nearly double those in the rest of Attica, standing at €800 and €750 respectively.
